Meet Quackery!
This aptly named duck often enjoyed resting on the rear timber deck of our friends houseboat at Purnong on the Murray river and is a common Pacific Black Duck.
At the time of painting, this area was in flood with a huge amount of water rapidly flowing downstream making the river and its banks quite dangerous.
Quackery also had ducklings, which reduced in numbers as the week went on due to predators from land and air. We would count them while having a cuppa on the deck each morning, hoping they had survived the night.
