I painted this freehand in artist oils from a 1957 newspaper clipping. The article said was that dad had bravely rescued thirteen new vehicles from a garage fire in Northumberland where he worked.

Dad told me he was given a packet of cigarettes as a thank you and that the rescue was not welcomed and suspected the owners were planning for it to be an insurance claim.

I guess I will never know, but its a fabulous story, and dad had many.
