Oil Study No 12 - Project 100
David Bowie - a brilliant musician, creative, songwriter and composer - I am grateful to have seen him live in concert.
Here he is as Ziggy Stardust, a fictional character created for the 1972 concept album: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
This oil painting was almost completed in a single session in a painting workshop with Greg O'Leary. The finishing touches were made the following day. Greg makes his students work hard and fast - reiterating the importance of tone and form, the process of blocking out and problem solving as you go. Proportion, balance negative shapes...
This one is painted using a mix of Burnt Umber, Prussian Blue and two whites (Zinc and Titanium).
Study number 12 for Project 100.
